What is BUS technology?

The BUS 2Easy is an input on the control board and a selection of devices that only require a two wire connection. Both the power to the device and the signal from the device are carried on these to cores of wire. There is no concerns about polarity and you can connect further devices either directly back to the board on from one device to the next.

Why would you choose BUS 2Easy devices?

  • The BUS 2Easy devices consume less power than the standard wired equivalent and can switch off completely when the system is idle.
  • Installation is easier and quicker that the standard wired equivalent.
  • The BUS 2 Easy safety devices and the connections to them are monitored by the control board. This prevents any electrical faults from allowing the automation system to move without it’s full complement of safety devices.
  • Activation devices are secure, unlike standard wired devices that have a normally open circuit that could be touch together by someone breaking in. The BUS circuit ignores a short circuit.
  • Fault finding is made simple on the BUS 2Easy circuit. An LED on the board will notify if a BUS 2Easy device is activated or at fault and the function of that device it provided in the BUS 2Easy screen in the menu.   

When can I use BUS 2Easy devices?

Any time you see the BUS 2Easy logo, a red BUS 2Easy terminal on a FAAC control board or by adding a XBR2 BUS 2Easy interface board.

What BUS 2Easy devices are available?

XP20BD Photo Cell

  • Up to 20 meter range.
  • Up to 16 pairs of photocells on one gate that will not get any issues with cross talk.
  • 7 closing safety
  • 6 opening safety
  • 2 opening & closing safety
  • 1 open activation
  • Optional recess mounting in a purpose made post 
  • 180 degree swivel allowing for mounting on the outside of the gate post and the transmitter and receiver boards to be pointed through the side of the cover.

XP30BD Photo Cell

  • Up to 30 meter range.
  • Up to 16 pairs of photocells on one gate that will not get any issues with cross talk.
  • 7 closing safety

  • 2 opening & closing safety

  • Optional surface mounting on a purpose made post 
  • Available in stainless steel 

XTRB Tag Reader

  • No limit to the number of tags used
  • Tags can be saved individually or in groups
  • The XTRB reader can have multiple purposes with channel options allowing tags to function differently to one another. With two outputs options on BUS 2Easy compatible boards and four on an XBR4 BUS 2EASY interface.
  • Optional surface mounting on a purpose made post

  • FDS BD 
  • The FDS BD key fob is both a radio transmitter and RFID tag that is compatible with the XTRB reader.

XK10B Key Switch

  • Two position Key switch (neutral/open)

XK11B Key Switch

  • Three position Key switch (close/neutral /open)
  • Optional surface mounting on a purpose made post XKPB Keypad
  • With a BUS 2Easy connection, this keypad is very secure. Unlike other systems. If a would be thief was to remove the XKPB from its mounting position and try to short out the wires behind, they would be ignored.  The end users pin codes can be between 2 and 4 digits. When connected to a BUS 2Easy compatible board there is the option to have to codes that can be assigned to different functions. For example, the first code would open the gate fully and the second would provide a partial opening for pedestrians only. Alternatively, if the XRB4 is used in conjunction with an XKPB, four codes can be created that are assigned to the four relays on the XBR4. This way one key pad can be used to provide an open command to four separated automation systems.

Post

There are three post options;

  1. Standard for cars
  2. High for lorries
  3. Duel for mixed traffic

All three are designed with the mounting position and screw holes in place for the XPB20, XPB30, XTRB, XK10B, XK11B or XKPB.

XRS Wireless Safety Edge Receiver

The BUS 2Easy connected wireless safety edge receiver, provides a failsafe system with very easy installation and setup. The wireless communication with up to six XTS transmitters allows for edges being installed on the moving gate. A XTS transmitter has two channels which will each monitor an 8K2 resistive safety edge. They are powered by standard 1.5V batteries and offer a very simple solution to wireless.

XBR2 & XBR4 Interface Card

An interface that allows a connection between FAAC BUS 2Easy devices and any automation system. It converts the BUS 2Easy information into either normally closed or normally open circuits. The XRB2 has two channels and the XRB four has four. Each channel can be used but a single BUS 2Easy device or in some cases a BUS 2Easy device can provide various outputs (see XKPB).

XIB Expansion Card

Really only used on the E024S. This is an expansion board is inserted into the BUS 2Easy input on a FAAC control board and creates two additional safety circuits. You get an opening safety and closing safety circuit that would be suitable for safety loops or photo cells. These inputs are not able to provide a failsafe check and so would not be suitable for safety edge signals or XGuards.

Optional Encoders (swing gates only)

Most FAAC swing gate operators have the option to add an encoder. Having an encoder provides three benefits:

1. Safety - If the gate stalls whilst hitting an obstruction, the encoder detects the lack of forward movement and causes a reversal which will prevent a person being pinned by the gate.

2. Energy saving - An automatic gate needs to be stopped in both the opening and closing direction. Traditionally this has been done by putting a physical stop, something a simple as a small post in the way of the gates movement. This works because the gate is driven for a set period of time and when it hits the post it just drives on for a little longer. Adding an encoder allows the control board to know the exact position the gate should stop so there is no need to drive up against the physical stops consuming additional power.

3. Security - Because the encoder is recording the position of the gate and the control board know what position it should be seeing. When a gate is forced open the control board creates an alarm. This alarm can then be integrated into the sites security system by connecting the boards output. Also alarms are provided to both the installer and gate owner via the Simply Connect app if Simply Connect has been installed.
