Sliding into place
A busy logistics company based in Banbury had a requirement for a new sliding gate system which
would allow remote operation by the gate house security staff. With Lorries coming at all hours of
the day and night, a dependable and robust system was essential.
Steve Maidment of Fen‐Bay services states “we chose to install a FAAC 844 3 phase operator as we
wanted a strong and reliable motor unit with which our engineers were familiar. We’ve used this
unit on a number of projects before and it’s always met all requirements”.
The 844 3 phase operator is ideal for large industrial gates weighing up to 2200kg with intensive use.
As the gear motor is non‐reversing no electric locks need to be installed.
The whole project is a little unusual as the gate was a cantilever style gate and the whole gate
system was prepared and transported to site as a “ready to go system”. This saved a lot of time and
disruption in a very busy location.
The installation has been in place for over 18 months now and continues to work faultlessly. It has
met the company’s health and safety responsibilities by completely removing the element of manual
handling of opening and closing the gate.
