FAAC (UK) SECURE CASTLE GATES
S418 swing gate operator installed at historic castle
The new generation S418 swing gate operator from FAAC has been installed at Monk
Castle in the parish of Dalry in Ayrshire. Launched earlier this year, the S418 operator
controls access to the castle which is open to the general public during the summer
months.
FAAC approved installers, Autogates Scotland was asked to install automated replicas
of the original gates, which needed replacing after the entrance had been widened. The
gates operate on a timer and remain open between 7.30am and 9.00pm during the
summer months to allow visitor access to the grounds. When the gates are closed,
estate employees gain access via a gsm intercom system.
William Gilmour, managing director of Autogates Scotland explains why the S418 was
the obvious choice for this installation: “The gate is made from wrought iron, so from an
aesthetic perspective, it required a discrete, slim-line operator. Reliability was also
extremely important which is why we chose the S418 because it comes with the option
of a battery back up.”
Suitable for residential use, the S418 is capable of moving a gate with a leaf up to 2.7
metres while only requiring a 24V power supply. This makes it both safer and
environmentally efficient and ideal for complex installations, where its long stroke and
multi-position fixing brackets give it greater flexibility. Other benefits include integrated
open and closing mechanical stops and the ability to self learn the operating cycle,
making the S418 quick and easy to install.
